The best course of action is to determine if the bird actually needs help.

In most cases when we receive a call about a baby bird, the bird is actually learning how to fly and even though its grounded, its parents are close by still caring for their young.

First off, observe the bird from a distance to see if the parents are nearby, if they are leave the bird where he was found as it is a normal part of the process.

If the bird is injured or appears sick. please contact a wildlife rehabilitation center for advice on how to proceed.

In the event the bird is not injured and the parents are not present, the bird may have fallen from its nest. In this case, you can try to put the bird back in the nest if you can find it.
If the nest is destroyed or you can't find it, you can create a makeshift nest using a small basket or plastic container lined with grass or leaves.
