How to Remove and Install a Pilot Bearing

Описание к видео How to Remove and Install a Pilot Bearing

A pilot bearing is located either in the end of the crankshaft or in the flywheel of a manual transmission vehicle. It is best to replace the bearing when the transmission is removed for service such as a new clutch being installed. A pilot bearing or pilot bushing stabilizes the end of the input shaft that the clutch disc rides along, which is a splined shaft and smooth on the end. The most common methods for removal are a puller tool which grabs the bearing from the back and presses it out. The other method for removal is packing the center with grease and/or bread. It is driven in with a dowel or rod and forces the grease to push the bearing out from the backside. In this video I show both methods and what worked best in this case.
