Madurai Mani Iyer, one of the stalwarts of Carnatic music, is revered for his unique style, intricate rhythmic patterns, and emotive rendition of ragas. His music is marked by an unparalleled purity of tone and an intuitive grasp of melody that captivates audiences, transcending generations. Known for his innovative Sarvalagu approach, he effortlessly brought forth rare ragas and showcased his unmatched expertise through complex kalpanaswaras and Ragam Tanam Pallavis.

As a tribute to this legendary vocalist on his 112th birth anniversary, we share a rare, never-heard-before concert. This recording from 61 years ago is that of a live concert performed on 2nd April 1963, for Ramanavami at Asthika Samajam, Venus Colony. This concert features many special elements, including the Simhendramadhyamam RTP, Karnataka Kapi Kalpana Swaras, Heccarikaga Rara, and more.
