DIY Lowrider paint job

Описание к видео DIY Lowrider paint job

For the past few years, I've been the proud owner of a weathered, rustic patina bike. My evenings often revolve around watching DIY videos on YouTube, which is how I stumbled upon Time Warp Customs. It was then that I realized it was time to give my bike a fresh coat of paint. While I didn't have access to an airbrush, my years of experience painting murals with spray cans gave me confidence in my precision.

I started with Rustoleum white as a primer and followed it up with Rustoleum black as the base coat. Since I lacked a professional setup for mixing clear coats and flakes, I decided to use Rustoleum's silver glitter sparkle paint as a creative alternative. To prepare for pinstriping over the glitter, I sealed it with Spray Max clear coat. For the pinstriping and lace patterns, I turned to MTN94 black paint, known for its low-pressure application. I also used MTN's translucent green and a base coat to tint the silver, enhancing the effect with a yellow tint from Duplicolor.

Wanting to add more sparkle, I applied Duplicolor's Clear Effex, which delivered a stunning rainbow shimmer. To maintain precision, I crafted stencils from Arlon high-performance vinyl with low tack adhesive to ensure they wouldn't damage the existing paint during removal.

After meticulously layering the paints, I sealed the transformation with Spray Max 2K clear coat. The bike's appearance underwent a remarkable transformation, and I couldn't be happier with the results. The theme of the artwork reflects a warrior's journey. On the electronics tank, I featured the characters 侍, meaning "samurai," and 旅, which signifies "journey." At the tank's top, a samurai departs for war, while on the left side, his wife waits at a pagoda for his return. To add a touch of Japan, I incorporated a small stencil of Fujisan (Mt. Fuji) on the right side. The process demanded hours of work each day for two weeks, resulting in a truly remarkable finish. While there may be some minor imperfections, I plan to address them at a later time.
