HMS Hermes is the first aircraft carrier specially designed and built by the Royal Navy. The ship adopted a fully open flight deck and a closed bow for the first time; At the same time, the bridge, mast, and chimney were combined to design a large island and installed on the starboard side of the hull. Therefore, this ship is regarded as the pioneer of modern aircraft carriers.
The ship has a speed of 25 knots and is equipped with carrier based aircraft such as Swordfish. In addition, it is only equipped with limited self-defense firepower.
HMS Hermes was launched in 1924 and went through several twists and turns before finally sinking in the Indian Ocean in 1942.
