President Trump said a shooting at a Mormon church in Michigan, which left at least one person dead, was another “attack on Christians”.

The shooting occurred at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Grand Blanc, about 50 miles north of Detroit, William Renye, local police chief, told reporters.

Police said they expected to find more victims and that the shooter was also dead. Police also said that the shooter had driven a vehicle into the front door of the church before opening fire. The suspect then set the church on fire.

Police have identified a 40-year-old suspect from Burton. The fire has now been extinguished.

Hundreds of people were said to be in the church at the time of the incident.
