If you're wondering why I ignored Prof. Booster when he dropped down into the pit, it's required to do so to get the best ending (which involves saving Curly), the Booster 2.0, and it also allows him to live. Interacting with him will end you up with the normal ending, the Booster 0.8, and Curly dying, as well as him dying... we definitely don't want that...
