Bestowed with the blessings of the Divine Mother Kāli, Kālidāsa, widely regarded as the greatest poet and dramatist in the Sanskrit language, has gifted humanity with three dramas – Malvikāgnimitra, Vikramorvaśīya and Śākuntala; two epics – Kumārasaṃbhava and Raghuvaṃśa; and one Khaṇḍakāvya – the Meghadūta.

Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University has recently announced Prof. K. Ramasubramanian as one of the recipients of the "Mahakavi Kalidas Sanskrit-Vrati National Award 2021". As an ode to the Mahākavi, Prof. K. Ramasubramanian would be expounding the beauty of verses from Meghadūta. This talk would provide a glimpse into the exquisite mastery wielded by Kālidāsa over language, substance, prosody, and philosophy.
