Gear pumps are mechanical rotary devices used to raise the pressure of a fluid for pumping the fluid from one place to another. Because of their simple design, they are used in places where space is limited, for example in internal combustion engines. Gear pumps are generally used for viscous fluids and they are more used for raising to high pressure.
