Video 160 from Sumit Academy explains The States Reorganisation Act 1956, which remains India’s largest collective administrative reorganisation.
This Act had a great impact on developing the country holistically. Parts of the country that were under-developed received great importance after this reorganisation. It also promoted unity amongst the states by reducing animosity between people of different cultures and religions.
It was felt that Governance would be made easier in areas which shared linguistic and geographical features. This would lead to the development of vernacular languages, which had long been ignored by the British.
