In this video I will explain how to transfer the odometer/mileage from your old Toyota instrument cluster (or as Toyota calls it, Combination Meter) to a replacement. In this case, I am replacing the 2011 instrument cluster with a used cluster from a 2018 4Runner. This process should work on any 2010-2019 5th Gen 4Runner. Toyota changed a lot of the underlying vehicle wiring and modules in 2020 so I am not sure if this same process will work. This process should be similar for any Toyota vehicle of this era that uses the 93 series EEPROMs in the cluster.

Disclaimer: Deliberately changing the stored mileage on a vehicle is considered odometer fraud and is illegal. For this reason, I will not explain how to enter in a new odometer reading, only transfer existing mileage. When purchasing a used vehicle, always check maintenance records or a CarFax to ensure the mileage seems reasonable. This process involved flashing EEPROMs while they are still installed on the instrument cluster. This is inherently risky and could risk damage to, or completely destroy your cluster.
