2. Admission, Rejection, and Impounding
Admission: The court receives the produced documents.
Endorsement:
Admitted documents are endorsed to show they are in evidence.
Rejected documents are also endorsed, stating they are inadmissible.
Rejection: The court may reject documents that are irrelevant or inadmissible.
Impounding: The court can order any document to be impounded if it is suspected of being forged or for any other reason relevant to a proceeding.
3. Return of Documents (Order XIII, Rules 8-10)
Admitted Documents: Once a document has been admitted in evidence, and if the court deems it unnecessary for it to remain, it can be returned to the party who produced it.
Procedure:
A receipt is given by the person receiving the document.
A document cannot be returned if the decree has made it wholly void or useless.
Rejected Documents: Documents rejected as inadmissible are returned to the party.
