Agateware and Nerikomi Clay Designs | Ceramics

Описание к видео Agateware and Nerikomi Clay Designs | Ceramics

Layered clay is formally referred to as agateware, nerikomi, neriage or marbled clay. In this video, I make layered clay designs using black and white porcelain.

This is my first video in hopefully a long series of colored clay designs. I'm using a very white porcelain and a black colored porcelain that I made by adding 1% of black Mason stain. I recommend using a lighter clay for Mason stains so that your colors show up. Porcelain works well but you could also use a stoneware.

Here are a few links to companies that you can purchase Masons stains from to try adding color to clay on your own:

-Great Lakes Clay. Elgin, IL. This is where I buy from. Support local! https://goo.gl/mg5h9K

-Big Ceramics Store. I've used them before and they have pictures to preview colors.
