This product does NOT have an overflow outlet.

BACKGROUND: We are slowly building an outdoor kitchen. I am trying to use commercial equipment when possible. We got a commercial single well sink, but it had a residential drain with no plug. I don’t like to reach in dirty water to pull a plug, so the chance to evaluate the AVITAS drain with external twist handle was a welcome opportunity.

FIT AND FINISH: This is a commercial duty drain, solid brass with heavy plating and stainless-steel parts.

FEATURES: The features below are from the product page with my comments as appropriate. Some are more humorous than others.
• Built from corrosion-resistant solid brass.
o No argument here, this is a solid piece of plumbing.
• Fits both 3 in. and 3.5 in. commercial sink openings.
• Twist handle placed under the sink, allowing precise water flow control while preventing clogs and overflows.
o This is a vertical lift stem valve design. The handle lifts and lowers the valve in relation to the drain body. There is no “precise water flow;” other than the strainer there is no special clog prevention mechanism; and, as discussed earlier, there is no overflow prevention mechanism.
• Designed without an overflow, it ensures easy plumbing and fewer issues over time.

• 2 in. outlet, supports fast drainage, making it ideal for multi-basin sinks.
• It includes all parts needed for quick, tool-free installation-no hassle, no delays.
• Easy to install, includes all necessary components-stainless steel drain plungers, filters, flanges, and handles-for a quick, tool-free installation with no additional tools required
o Lol, tool free. Maybe for installation, but not to replace an existing drain.

INSTALLATION: Installation was relatively easy. I did not use tools to tighten everything down.
However, despite the product description stating, more than once “Tool-free installation” a review of standard installation practices consistently referred to a tool to hold the flange while tightening the drain body.
And I had to use tools to remove the existing drain body.

OPERATION: This valve is very easy to use. The handles twists 180 degrees to open or close, with a noticeable detent when fully closed. The O-ring in the stem valve pulls into the drain flange for a liquid-tight seal. With the drain open, even a fully open faucet valve cannot over fill the sink (if there is no other obstruction to drainage.)

SUMMARY: Despite inaccurate product description. This valve is a great value in the commercial market.

PROS: Heavy duty, brass construction.
Good machining.
Good operation.
And nice looking.

CONS: The product title, description, and details do not match. DOES NOT have an overflow connection.
