Prince Harry and Meghan Markle stepped down from their royal duties in 2020. Their son, Prince Archie, was just a few months old when the Sussexes decided to move to the United States to start a new life. As the prince grew older, he supposedly became more interested in his hometown and his grandfather.

Despite the ongoing drama between Harry and his father, Archie is said to be keen to visit the UK following the Duke's recent trip to London for an Invictus Games event.

Royal author Tom Quinn, speaking to the Mirror, claimed that the duke's son "likes the idea" of King Charles living at the castle. But he claimed that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry did not want to "encourage" his visit to the UK.

The Duchess of Sussex is said to be concerned that Archie will grow up missing his homeland and blames his parents for isolating him from the royal family, especially his grandfather.

“Meghan was concerned that an exquisite shepherd’s hut or similar extravagant gift would only heighten Archie’s growing interest in his royal connections,” Quinn said.

The royal expert said that Meghan does not want Britain to turn into a long-awaited fantasy for Archie, which is why she has been pressing the Duke to ask the King to send Archie a simple gift.

According to the royal expert, the king is keen to express his love for his grandchildren and wants to be a tolerant grandfather. He added that this was due to Charles's desire to compensate for what he considered to be mistreatment of his children.

Noting that the royal has not met Archie since 2022, Quinn said: “Archie really misses him.” He went on to say that Archie is aware of the fact that his grandfather lives in a castle because his books depict kings, princesses and castles.

He concluded by saying: “He seems desperate to come to the UK with his father, but Meghan and Harry do not want to encourage that.”

Amid the sensitive issue of the separate relations between the US and UK royal families, it was previously reported that King Charles intended to surprise Archie with a stunning £18,000 gift on his fifth birthday on May 6. However, the Sussexes appeared to reject the plans. According to a source close to the royal couple, Harry did not deny his father's intention to give his son a gift.

While Prince Archie was born on May 6, 2019 in the United Kingdom, his parents decided to step down as senior royals the following year and moved to California in June 2020. Meghan later gave birth to Princess Lilibet in the United States in 2021.
