Day 1: Great American Crawl at Morris Mountain ORV Park - Delta, AL 5.17.24

On Thursday afternoon we arrived at Morris Mountain, got our RVs setup, and headed out onto the trails while everything was really dry, because the forecast called for 90+ percent chance of heavy precipitation on Friday & Saturday. We had a great time and the rocks had great traction. Afterwards we fired up the charcoal grill & enjoyed some delicious steaks.

Friday morning we woke up to a great surprise...the rain held off and we were set for a great day of riding. Richard Sawyer and I (and others) were volunteering as trail guides for this event, so we got officially signed up and picked up our free t-shirt, can of Steel-It, a couple cans of Rockstar Energy drinks, and a raffle ticket for Saturday night. The forecast, and it being a workday for most people, resulted in a lighter crowd for Friday so we got grouped up by our rigs...a stockish group, a 35-37" tire group, a 38-40" tire group, and two extreme groups. A few of the groups headed to the mountain-side of the park, and everyone else explored the rest of the park. We had a great day on the trails, and all ended up at V-Notch, which is pretty typical for big events at Morris Mountain. Several rigs, that had been denied earlier in the day, ended up successfully crawling V-Notch, a great end to the day. Afterwards we headed back to camp, and for me...to a delicious pot roast that had been cooking in the RV all day.
