What are you chasing? Are you making progress, or just going in circles?

Steve recommends another course, going for two opposite sounds. For example, if you have a solid state preamp, get a sweet sounding tube pre, or do the same with power amps. Or search out a second set of speakers, if you have polite British speakers, get a pair of brawny American speakers.

My point here is to change your sound by alternating between two or more variables to keep it interesting, and hold off upgrading. Different may be all you need.
