Through Sutter and Colusa counties, I cut south of the Sutter Buttes we’ve approached. As rain had interrupted electricity production, I ended up conserving my iPhone battery life for navigation rather than video footage. So I struggled across pitted county backroads with my plastic compass finally put to good use.

How to describe the hell of passing through a mile-long dense cloud of hungry mosquitoes while in full perspiration under the blazing sun? The leagues of roadsides littered with dozens upon dozens of varieties of roadkill? Video wouldn’t suffice. This run was hard and it did damage. Not nearly as much damage as was coming up, however…

After passing through the green desert of rice fields, Arbuckle was a pleasant treasure. We arrived, hot, dehydrated, and exhausted, to Dunnigan, which was a real Social treat.

Now in Cordelia, I finally have a chance to upload this video. Stay with us, because it gets harder and the damage gets worse. Much, much worse: as of this posting I have $.55 in my bank account and I’m hungry.
