The terroir of this region is very unique and say for instance the Tempranillo... Our terrior is similar to that of Spain, of the Rioja region, so that grape really does well here.

It’s considered “temprano" which means early, so it’s the early grape, but because we get those cold evenings and then those nice warm days the grape really likes it here. With the high elevation you’ll notice some softness in our wine, things that you wouldn’t notice in other areas. They tend to be smoother and softer.

...So with the Pinot Noir, that’s on a north facing slope up in the Georgetown area where that vineyard is located, so you’re going to get those cooler climes. That is a grape that is sensitive, that has a very thin skin so it’s a sensitive grape you have to be careful with. But it does well.

“Georgetown is good place to grow wine!” and the vineyards, are steep!

The vineyards are steep and hilly so you’ll have some Barbera up higher in the elevation then have some Tempranillo down lower in the valley and they do ripen at different times. So you’ll see the ones up top tend to ripen a bit quicker than the ones down below, so we may be doing a couple different pickings of Tempranillo per se...
