Small and mid-size hybrid SUVs have become a popular choice in Australia, where fuel prices are hurting household budgets and the affordability of petrol-electric powertrains has improved.

The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid dominates the market, but new entrants are making their presence felt – including the new 2022 Haval Jolion Hybrid.

The latest model to spring from the much-improved Chinese GWM-Haval stable, the Jolion Hybrid uses a 1.5-litre hybrid system that delivers a higher 139kW/375Nm output but lower 5.0L/100km combined-cycle fuel consumption compared to regular, cheaper models in the range.
