Barn Door Measurements

For this example This rough opening is 34 inches wide by 83” high. As to how we build our doors, we had two inches over hang on each side of the door so our door size will actually be 38 X 83. Step 3. We have to calculate the length the header board for the door which goes above the door frame. Step 4. Measuring Hardware, when measuring the track length it will depend on the size of castor you use for your track which can be castors with a 3 inch or 6 inch diameter rollers on them. For calculating your track length we once again go with the width of our door but a different calculation, depending on your hardware your track length is pending on Castor size. We carry many styles of castor types but the two constants are the 3” or 6” mounts. The last things we need to know when starting a barn door order is the flooring type, so we can install the correct style of floor guide for your door to slide properly. Let us know if your floor is hardwood, carpet, tile or concrete because our floor guides are different for each surface and also let us know if you have in floor heating. Once you’ve done all your calculations, pick a colour and finish and we’ll do the rest. The only differences in our doors varies on certain situations. 1. If you have cased moulding around your door frame which will alter our sizing 2. Don’t have overhead room on your door frame, in which we’ll have to design a custom header for your door.
