Описание к видео Hammond Percussion with Sustain Percussion - Demo song: "Little Sally One Shoe"

In the early 1950s, Singer Rosemary Clooney recorded this song on an album of songs for children. 1950s Hammond Artist Ken Griffin also recorded an instrumental version of this on a Hammond BCV which had the famous Hammond Chorus generator that Hammond used in some models before they had developed the true pitch-varying "Scanner Vibrato." In much of his arrangement Griffin used the Hammond with vibrato off and the chorus generator in use, and it sounded somewhat suggestive of an accordion, but, being a Hammond, resulted in a case of the imitation sounding better than the real thing (at least in my opinion!) Griffin also used one of his signature playing styles where he played the melody and the up-beat rhythm chords both with his left hand and then used a syncopated rhythm pattern of chords in his right hand. So for the first verse, I have copied Ken's arrangement almost literally, the B3 being a newer version of the BCV, but using the same basic Hammond tonewheel technology. The Hammond chorus generator was not included in the B3s, because Hammond could get a different but effective chorus type sound by mixing the true vibrato of the B3 with the straight or "dry" signal. However, the effect of a real chorus generator, which supplied additional tones whose frequencies were very slightly different from the corresponding tones of the main tone generator, sounded quite different from the newer "vibrato-chorus," and so I have imitated that by using a digital effects processor to take a portion of the B3's audio and provide signals that are both increased and decreased simultaneously by 4 cents, a cent in this case being a frequency interval of 0.01 semitone. The result as a very good replica of the original Hammond chorus effect, and it makes the Hammond have the same random tuning discrepancies that are present in accordions, which adds to the effectiveness of the imitation. I likewise also played the melody with the LH and rhythmic chords in the RH to further the accuracy of the imitation. In the last verse, I changed the playing style, and here I combined Hammond's original percussion with a sustain percussion, which B3s did not have but it is very effective and relatively speaking not overly difficult to add. Then for the final part of the last verse, I used a reiterating bells effect. The use of the two different percussion effects together and then the reiterating bells are both useful effects that compliment the basic style of this childrens' song's light and bouncy style.
