In this video, we reveal the forgotten legacy of RANI AWANTIBAI LODHI, the FIRST WOMAN FREEDOM FIGHTER of the INDIAN INDEPENDENCE STRUGGLE. Born in 1831 in MADLAI VILLAGE of present-day MADHYA PRADESH, AWANTIBAI became the QUEEN OF RAMGARH and a fearless warrior who led her people against the BRITISH EAST INDIA COMPANY during the REVOLT OF 1857.

After the death of her husband RAJA VIKRAMADITYA SINGH, the British tried to annex her kingdom under the DOCTRINE OF LAPSE. But RANI AWANTIBAI refused to surrender. She raised an army of 4,000 brave soldiers, inspired the people of RAMGARH, DINDORI, and SHAHDOL, and launched a powerful rebellion against British tyranny.

Her courage, leadership, and ultimate sacrifice in 1858 make her one of the most powerful but unsung heroines of India’s freedom movement. Yet, she remains missing from school textbooks and public memory. This documentary brings her story back to life — the Queen who chose death over dishonor, and became a symbol of resistance.
