Why Did Wyatt Earp Wield a Coach Gun? The Ultimate Wild West Defense Weapon

Wyatt Earp was famous for establishing the law in Tombstone, Arizona. He used a variety of weapons, but one of which is just an all around great self defense weapon: the Coach Gun.

In the Movie Tombstone, and in real life, Virgil Earp grabs a double barrel shotgun from the Wells Fargo nearby to deal with outlaws at the OK Corral. Doc Holiday is given the shotgun and only fired from one barrel before drawing his revolver. Wyatt and Virgil also used a double barrel for protection services when riding on a coach while sending express packages since Wells Fargo was short on people for the task. Wyatt supposedly used a double barrel shotgun to take out “Curly Bill” at a watering hole.

The shotgun in the video is a Pedersoli 12ga Double Barrel Shotgun with Wyatt Earp on the side of it. It is a reproduction of the classic “coach gun”.
