Orson Welles' Citizen Kane is widely considered to be the best American film of all time. It has inspired countless filmmakers like Spielberg, Scorsese, Lumet and many more. Not only was the film revolutionary for its time, but the process of how the film was made was arguably just as intriguing. Great artists came out of the making of Citizen Kane: Robert Wise, Gregg Toland, Joseph Cotton, and Bernard Herrmann went on to make many great films. David Fincher's Mank FAILS to address any of the topics that acutally matter when discussing the greatest film of all time and instead decides to focus on a depressed, lonely, bitter (and boring) middle aged man. Mank doode... Boring, doode.
