Writing thank you notes seems like it’s becoming a lost art, but they are more powerful than ever in this virtual age. Ideally, when you write a thank you note, you write a handwritten letter and mail it to someone. (My one exception is for job interviews – you want to get your thank you to the interviewer(s) as quickly as possible, so email is fine!)
This handwritten note shows you are putting a sincere effort into acknowledging and appreciating what someone else has done for you or given you.
When to write a thank you note? Anytime someone else:
* gives you a gift
* goes out of their way to do something (nice) for you
* interviews you for a job
