Black River & Western 60: The Flemington Fast Freight (HD)

Описание к видео Black River & Western 60: The Flemington Fast Freight (HD)

The Black River & Western Railroad has always held a spot in the hearts of many for their steam tourist excursions powered by locomotive #60. The mighty 2-8-0 has been serving the line well for many decades and to begin the 2022 season, the railroad would host a special photography event to bring the locomotive back to her 1972 appearance featuring white accents and hand painted lettering. In addition to a short freight train, the locomotive would display a fantastic spectacle of steam on various locations along the railroad's line from morning to the setting sun. Scenes of the early days of the recently formed Black River & Western Railroad were recreated and brought to life with the addition of classic vehicles, famous locations, and actors during a beautiful spring day. Touting the deep, powerful tone of a Grand Trunk Western 6 chime, the Great Western veteran would speed down the rails, bringing a great sight to any railroad enthusiast. Please sit back, relax, and enjoy the sights and sounds of the early 1970s on the BR&W by Keystone Rail Productions!

History of Black River & Western 60:
Black River & Western 60 was built by the American Locomotive Company's Schenectady Works in August of 1937 for the Great Western Railway in Colorado. Under the ownership of the Great Western, she worked in service hauling Sugar Beat and Molasses trains, similar to that of the famed Great Western 90. During World War II, the Great Western modified 60 with a smokebox extension, allowing the use of poor grade coal in accordance with war-time restrictions. In 1963, a relatively new short line, the Black River & Western Railroad, purchased the consolidation for tourist service. In 1965, she pulled the first tourist trains on the line. During her time in revenue and excursion service, 60 has undergone a number of cosmetic changes. Most recently, she appears in a scheme that resembles her 1972 excursion appearance. During the summer of 2021, 60 returned to the high iron once again after a 5 year annual inspection that sidelined her since late 2019.
