I remember waiting for kapa haka practices to start at 4pm and some of the cousins would be singing their Ratana hīmene. It use to annoy me because I didnt know the words to these awesome tunes lol. So, here we are after a days mahi and we acknowledge the birth of Tahupōtiki Wiremu Ratana by singing this hīmene. Though we are not of the faith, we still acknowledge our close friends and whānau who are of the hāhi Ratana celebrating his birthday.
