Dolphin Shoals sax cover (Mario Kart 8)

I've been wanting to transcribe this iconic saxophone solo for a long time now. I've done little bits of it, and of course learned the "Mario Kart Lick" from this solo. But it was finally time for me to really dig in and transcribe the entire solo. The alto player on this recording is Kazuki Katsuta and he's sooo killin (I've been checking out a bunch of his original music too).

The bass is just midi that I recorded using the Aerophone (I couldn't play it on a real bass rip). The drums are actually just a loop in the RC-505 that was close enough to the original. I think there are synth parts in the original but I just recorded those on flute and added some effects. This is definitely more of a transcription than a full blown arrangement but I thought I would make a little video out of it anyways since I always get people asking me to play it.

I think the hardest part of this solo was trying to match Kazuki's vibrato. He uses it very sparingly but it's quick and never held out for long. I definitely have a long ways to go to try and match both his sound (one of the brightest I've ever heard) and his vibrato. vAnyways, thanks so much for watching!
