There's no doubt that the Salkantay Trail in Peru is one of the best hikes in the world. This 5-day hike has everything, starting high in the Andes mountains and ending in the jungles with Machu Picchu.

It's the more challenging option to the popular Inca trail, but it was completely worth it for what turned out to be the adventure of a lifetime.
