Ryzen 5 1400 Vs Ryzen 5 5600 in a benchmark test because I had upgraded my 1400 to a 5600. This was done with 16GB 2400 mhz ram, dual channel, and an RX 580 4GB. CPU Cooler is a Hyper 212 Black.

This benchmark is for someone with a low to mid range card looking for a CPU upgrade, this is not a conclusive review of the 5600 as it is being limited by the GPU. I just wanted to see how much performance I could gain by being GPU limited instead of CPU.

I tested games that I had been playing recently and a few I wanted more performance out of:

Resident evil 7 - Just wanted to see how high I could crank the settings

Control - FPS was leaving some to be desired, unfortunately it was already mostly GPU bound so it didn't help much.

Fallout 4 - With mods and in downtown boston, my performance took a huge hit, now it is buttery smooth.

Team Fortress 2 - Stuttering was a HUGE issue, led to many, many deaths and an overall bad playing experience. This was due to my CPU and something to do with source games especially, would go from 20-40% utilization to 100% when a bunch of events happened which would usually happen in PVP. The 5600 has so far fixed this issue.

Minecraft - Newer updates were weighing in on my CPU, especially 1.18 and 1.19. I liked building big bases but they would be very CPU heavy due to all the activity going on, this exacerbated the lag. Now it runs pretty smooth with the 5600.

I had other games that were preforming to a near unplayable degree like Detroit become Human, which I had to play at 900p. Unfortunately I didn't have these games installed when I did this.
