Cleaning a Bonded Retainer

Описание к видео Cleaning a Bonded Retainer

The bonded retainer is not a permanent retainer; however, it will be functional for several years before it needs replacing. If the bonded retainer fails within your 12 month follow up period, it will be replaced/repaired at no charge. Replacement bonded retainers will incur a fee, and this will be discussed at the time your bonded retainer is reviewed by your Orthodontist.

Bonded Retainers Care Instructions
Once your braces have been removed, you will be fitted with a bonded retainer. To ensure its longevity and maintain your dental health, follow these important care guidelines:

Brushing
You should brush your bonded retainer every time you brush your teeth. Pay special attention to the area along the gum line, as plaque and debris can build up between the bonding material and the gum line. Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your gum line, gently massaging the area with the bristles.

Flossing
Flossing remains crucial, even with a bonded retainer. We recommend using a pink tepe brush, watch our video on our website.
If you prefer you can also use Super-floss to reach between your teeth and around the retainer. Ideally, floss once a day. If you are unsure how to floss properly with the retainer, please watch the videos on our website.

Professional CleaningsPlaque can build up in hard-to-reach areas around the retainer. To prevent this, we recommend visiting a dental hygienist every six months for a thorough cleaning. During this visit, the hygienist can also verify that your retainer is securely bonded to your teeth and clean any difficult areas.

Retainer Lifespan
While the bonded retainer is designed to last for several years, it is not permanent. Should it fail or need repair within the 12-month follow-up period, we will repair or replace it at no cost. After the 12-month period, a fee will apply for replacements or repairs. Your orthodontist will discuss any fees during your retainer review.

By following these care instructions, you can ensure that your bonded retainer continues to function effectively and that your teeth remain aligned.
