It was quite unbelievable that we were able to catch this Husky's beautiful Wait on camera today.

We did it with no treats, no toys. The release command was exciting enough!

It took us 7 years and lots of frustration and tears to get to this point. #siberianhusky and #alaskanmalamute are notoriously hard-headed breeds, and #themuffinthatiscass is no different.
Extremely intelligent, yes.
Ridiculously cute, Yes
Floofy and talkative, oh yes.
SASSY beyond all reason, yup.
Caring, sweet, and protective, oh definitely!
Quick to learn something new, Yes.
Understands commands well, check.
Willingness and cooperation ....well...

I am sure you are familiar with the owners on youtube who are often just ignored by their husky or malamute? #itsahuskything and 100% it's REAL!

Unlike other dogs, who might just need a little gentle guidence from their #consistentowner to understand the benefits of obedience;This #Malahuskydore needed 50x more patience, practice and #highvaluetreats in order to give us any time of day. Often, he would just choose to...NOT. Independent thinkers will reason with themselves in the situation and judge the value of outcome by benefit. If it will be more fun to run off rather than staying put for a biscuit...he gonna do that.

He was outsmarting me around every corner during #dogtraining, so I had to up my game. Treats only worked sometimes, toys didn't work in the forest. He was wild, unruly and just not listening, until I implemented this waiting game.
