Consciousness is changed by the breath, and through the breath we can see how consciousness changes over time. As an anesthesiologist I've had the opportunity to watch how consciousness leaves and then re-enters the body tens of thousands of times.

I've watched how unmanaged anxiety affects how patients fare during and after surgery. More anxiety leads to more pain, nausea, infection, and a slower recovery. Anxiety affects surgical outcome.

In my personal life our family suffered an unimaginable crisis when my son crashed his truck. We were all crushed with grief and anxiety. Our ability to stay conscious and present was greatly affected.

Through this suffering, I discovered the power of Breathwork to shift my mental state from PTSD to being able to be present and available for my son and our family.
