This unique dual gauge rail yard and associated train operations
is at Ayr Queensland Australia. The sugar cane railways are 2 foot gauge and the main railway system is 3 foot 6 inch gauge.
The dual gauge is to enable molasses tankers that are delivered on
the 3 foot 6 inch railway system to be taken to the local sugar mill for loading.
The locomotive is a 2 foot gauge sugar cane locomotive. A flat wagon with offset dual couplings is placed between the locomotive and the molasses tanker wagons and the sugar cane locomotive then takes the wagons to the sugar mill for loading.
