Az elmélet:

A mellékneveket úgy fokozzuk, mint a magyar nyelvben tehát van alapfoka, középfoka és felsőfoka. Fokozásnál a mellékneveket három csoportra osszuk.

I. Rövid vagy egy szótagú

Helyesírás
Ha a melléknév utolsó előtti betűje magánhangzó az utolsó pedig mássalhangzó, akkor a mássalhangzók megduplázódnak.
Például: big - bigger
Ha a melléknév e-re végződik, akkor az -e kiesik. Például: nice - nicer (Nem niceer!)
Ha a melléknév utolsó előtti betűje magánhangzó az utolsó pedig y, akkor az y betű ie-re változik.
Például: happy - happier
