Jacob (1785-1863) and Wilhelm (1786-1857) Grimm were German scholars and philologists whose monumental collection, Kinder- und Hausmärchen (Children's and Household Tales), became a global treasure. Far from merely recording folk stories, their project was deeply rooted in their personal beliefs, academic pursuits, and the vibrant intellectual currents of 19th-century Germany, aiming to rediscover and reanimate what they saw as fragments of “ancient faith.”

In light of this, Fr. Andrew Stephen Damick and Dcn. Seraphim Richard Rohlin will read and discuss two strange, perplexing, dark, and ultimately hopeful “fairy tales”: Little Briar Rose and The Juniper Tree, and discuss the ways that Christ hides and reveals himself in these ancient stories.
