Marduk: The Renegade World

A celestial leviathan unchained from the usual stellar choreography. Unlike most planets that circle the sun in a predictable east-west plane, Marduk carves a solitary path, its orbit tilted sharply north-south. This oblique journey takes a brutal 7.526 Earth years to complete, plunging the planet into darkness for centuries at a time.

Marduk's extreme axial tilt casts most of its surface under an eternal twilight. The perpetual twilight zone harbors vast, uncharted oceans and nightmarish storms that rage for millennia. The polar regions, occasionally bathed in unforgiving sunlight, are thought to be scorched wastelands.

Ancient astronomical records whisper of Marduk's existence. Myths from various cultures speak of a "wandering star" or a "devouring darkness." These legends fuel scientific curiosity and a tinge of dread.

The Year of Visitation (2137): After centuries of celestial slumber, Marduk stirs. Its monstrous form breaches the ecliptic plane, inching closer to Earth's orbit. Panic ripples across the globe. This is the year of visitation.

Project Marduk, a daring initiative, is born. A specially designed spacecraft, the Envoy, is humanity's first interstellar vessel. A courageous crew of scientists, engineers, and a security detail are entrusted with the perilous mission: to unravel the mysteries of the rogue planet and assess the potential threat it poses to Earth.

The Envoys' journey is a harrowing one. They face the dangers of prolonged deep space travel, the unknown perils of Marduk's environment, and the chilling possibility that they may not be alone on this desolate world.
