Make your own Spiderweb Wall Hanging! I created this wall hanging with 5mm single twist macrame cord from @thelarksheadshop in the color “Boysenberry”. The measurements in these instructions work for most 5mm and 4mm single twist macrame cords, but in order to ensure accuracy and minimal cord waste, I recommend cutting the cord as you go for your first try.

You will be using 2 cords to create square knots around one half of each of the 9 four inch macrame rings. Cut your first 2 cords to 3 feet 10 inches, or 46 inches, long. Measure the cords to the 10 inch mark, and use masking tape to secure the cord strands to the ring. With the ring in the center and the 2 cords on the outside, use a square knot sinnet to wrap the macrame ring, stopping when the knots are encircling one half of the ring. If the measurements for the first 2 cords are accurate, proceed to cut the additional 16 cords to 3 feet 10 inches and wrap the additional 8 rings.

Remove the masking tape from each of the rings. Using the 2 cords on one end of a wrapped macrame ring, tie the ring to the dowel with a lark’s head knot and trim ends. On the opposite end of the dowel, attach a second wrapped macrame ring with the same technique.

Cut 9 cords to 2 feet long. 8 cords will be used to tie the macrame rings together with gathering knots, and the remaining cord will attach the 2 inch macrame ring to the dowel in the center. I just used the cord to wrap around the ring and dowel and tied the ends together, no special knot for this part.

Cut 2 cords to 6 feet long. Measure to the 20 inch mark, and attach to the ring with a lark’s head knot, with the shorter ends in the center. Create a square knot sinnet that is approximately 8.5 inches long, or long enough to reach to the correct spot between 2 macrame rings. The sinnet should end just above the gathering knots. If measurements for the first 2 cords are accurate, cut the remaining 14 cords to 6 feet long and repeat steps until you have 8 sinnets total.

Wrap the ends of the square knot sinnets around the corresponding area above each gathering knot in the rings. I just wrapped the right two cords going one direction, and the left two cords going the other direction, and tied them in the back with a regular square knot, and trimmed the ends.

Cut 2 cords to 7 feet long and attach to the dowel at the 2 foot mark with a lark’s head knot, with the shorter ends in the center. Create a square knot sinnet that periodically breaks for the vertical sinnets, going over the vertical sinnet with the interior cords, and under the vertical sinnets with the exterior cords. On the opposite side of the vertical sinnet, restart the square knot pattern and continue until you’ve formed a full “U” shape that reaches the dowel. Attach with lark’s head knots and trim ends.

Cut 2 cords to 10 feet 6 inches long and attach to the dowel at the 3 foot mark with a lark’s head knot, with the shorter ends in the center. Create a square knot sinnet with the same instructions as above, until the sinnet forms a slightly larger “U” shape and reaches the dowel. Attach with a lark’s head knot and trim ends.

Cut a 4 foot cord for the hanging cord, and use a regular square knot to tie it securely. Use a dab of hot glue to attach your Disco Spider from Part 1, and your Spiderweb Wall Hanging is complete!
