The Temple Bar District is a well-known area of Dublin, located on the south bank of the River Liffey. It’s a square district with narrow pedestrian lanes lined with shops, cafés, galleries and pubs.

You’ll find a world of wonders to discover with live entertainment, art, and culture thriving, both day and night.

In the 1600s, Sir William Temple, a British statesman, built his residence and gardens here giving the area its namesake. Temple Bar was then mostly inhabited by workmen and tradespeople, but today is one of Dublin’s cultural hubs.

The district brims with street artists, exhibitions and no less than three theatres. Along the year, a host of festivals brightens the atmosphere, with the biggest being the Temple Bar Tradfest.
