Super Famicom Wars, released on May 1, 1998, in Japan by Intelligent Systems and Nintendo, is a turn-based military strategy game and an enhanced successor to the original Famicom Wars. Exclusively available via the Nintendo Power service and later re-released on Wii and Wii U Virtual Consoles, it introduces four playable factions—Red Star, Blue Moon, Green Earth, and Yellow Comet—across 44 maps, including 17-map campaigns for Red Star vs. Blue Moon and Green Earth vs. Yellow Comet, plus 10 four-player maps. The game refines its predecessor with eight new units (totaling 24), a Fog of War mode, a faster CPU, and a maximum of 60 deployable units. Players command armies using funds to build units at factories, seaports, and airports, capturing cities to gain resources, with objectives to seize enemy headquarters or eliminate all opposing units. It retains the series’ core grid-based mechanics while adding selectable Commanding Officers with unique AI strategies, enhancing tactical depth.
