"From Lab to Launch: Stanford’s Entrepreneurial Ecosystem"

Stanford is among the world’s top institutions for launching high-tech startups. What are the secrets to their success and what lessons can be shared to help others translate university-developed innovations, particularly those enabled through nanoscale science and engineering? The panel will discuss university “innovation ecosystems” in terms of what they are, their importance, and their most critical elements/resources. Attendees can expect to learn about challenges scientists and engineers face when translating ideas from lab to market with little or no background in business, and how universities and networked infrastructures like the National Nanotechnology Coordinated Infrastructure (NNCI) can help them along the way.

Panelists:
Yossi Feinberg, The Adams Distinguished Professor of Management and Professor of Economics, Stanford University

Jennifer Dionne, Professor of Materials Science and, by courtesy, of Radiology, Stanford University; Chan Zuckerberg Investigator; co-founder of Pumpkinseed

Keegan Cooke, Director, Stanford Ecopreneurship, Stanford University

Moderator:
Matt Hull, Research Professor/Director, NCFL, Virginia Tech ICTAS and Associate Director of the NNCI for Innovation and Entrepreneurship
