The South Korean government has invoked return-to-work orders for more striking truckers citing worsening supply disruptions.
This time, truckers in the steel and petrochemicals sectors were ordered back to work.
The order was approved during a Cabinet meeting Thursday where the Prime Minister called it the last resort to save the economy from strikes that have already cost some 2-point-6 billion U.S dollars of losses to related industries.

"Disruptions to shipments of steel and petrochemicals directly affect the nation's key industries like automobiles, shipbuilding, and semiconductors, potentially putting the whole economy in crisis."

This comes as the unionized truckers enter the 15th day of their strike calling for the permanent adoption of a minimum wage system that calculates their pay based on operating cost.
The initial order was only issued on cement truckers who have since partially got back behind the wheel.
Those who don't comply with the order could see their truck drivers' licenses temporarily suspended and could even face fines or imprisonment.
