In the landfill-like situation currently plaguing dance music, Bombay-based ethnomusicologist Abhi Meer aka The Vigilante has set upon an unlikely quest - communion - a musical and spiritual exchange existing well beyond the gaze of social media and the ‘attention economy’. In this new paradigm, CONTEXT and INTENT stand tall above the shallowness of disposable, modern-day CONTENT.

A singular, infallible thread of commitment to music’s highest purpose has run through Abhi Meer’s career. For nearly two decades, he’s helped spread the message of India’s alternative music to the wider world, first through the written word, and then through his involvement at Indian community radio pioneers @boxoutfm .

Presently, Abhi Meer is engaged in the battle against the re-writing and flattening of our collective musical histories, glimmers of which are on display at his now-infamous all-night DJ residencies and through the WHYDJ program - a gateway into the world of DJ culture through the uncommon lenses of history, philosophy, Afro-futurism and Jungian psychology.

In recent years, he's made two appearances for Boiler Room, as well as multiple performances as both a live act and DJ at Magnetic Fields Festival, Lollapalooza, Slingshot Festival, Control ALT Delete, Moogfest, NH7 Weekender, Boxout Weekender and more. Consequently, he’s shared top billing alongside the likes of Juan Atkins, Kenny Dope, Josey Rebelle, Djrum and many others.
