Tela Stella: the genesis, the origin. In 1982, Stone Island was founded with just one fabric in 6 bicolour versions. Thirty years later, the exact replica of a piece from its first collection is available, in the fabric inspired by a study on the technical and functional features of tarpaulins for military trucks.
This cotton cloth is impregnated on both sides with contrasting pigment special resins.
The fabric then undergoes a long lasting enzyme wash to achieve a faded aspect. The result is a wind resistant material, with the flavour of marine old weather corroded oilskin pieces and with a strong military feel.

Tela Stella: la genesi, l'origine. E' così che nel 1982 nasce Stone Island, un solo tessuto, in 6 varianti bicolore. Trent'anni dopo viene riproposta l'esatta replica di un pezzo della prima collezione, che prende ispirazione da uno studio sulle caratteristiche tecniche e funzionali dei teloni da camion degli eserciti.
Questa tela di cotone è impregnata su ambo i lati da speciali resine pigmentate a contrasto.
Il tessuto subisce poi un lungo lavaggio ad enzimi per ottenere un aspetto delavato. Ne risulta un materiale resistente al vento, che ha il sapore delle vecchie cerate corrose dal mare e allo stesso tempo una forte impronta militare.
