Mighty Morphin Power Rangers is a beat-em-up game developed by Bandai released for the Super Nintendo Entertainment in 1994. Based on the hit 1993 tv series of the same name, the plot centers on a group of five teenage martial arts students who are recruited as super hero’s known as the Power Rangers in order to stop the evil alien sorceress Rita Repulsa and her monsters from conquering the world. Specifically, the plot is centered on the first season of the series.


Mighty Morphin Power Rangers was released as one of five games created for various platforms (the other platforms being the Nintendo Game Boy, Sega Genesis, Sega Game Gear, and Sega CD). The genre and level designs for each port are different from each other, such as the Sega Genesis port being a fighting-game akin to Street Fighter and the Sega CD port is a quick-time event game akin to the likes of Space Ace or Dragon’s Lair, containing pixelated scenes from the TV series. The SNES version had a mostly positive reception, though was criticized for its repetitive level design and gameplay.
