(Brother) Mike McBride:
Michael McBride was born August 9, 1951 on Maryland’s famous Eastern Shore. He was a “late bloomer,” with his music career. McBride started playing music at the ripe old age of 14 with the high school rock and roll band, known as The Deacons, playing mostly British Invasion/Beatles music. His first instrument was electric guitar playing both lead and rhythm. During those formative years he explored other avenues, and by the time his senior year was over, he was playing Dylan, Crosby Stills Nash & Young and various other American artists. He played and jammed the next few years around the country and in Europe, expanding his music.

In 1973 McBride moved to Nashville. He was very fortunate to do some studio work there with some great artists and producers, such as Gary Paxton. In the evenings he jammed around town and met the likes of John Hartford, Norman Blake, The Whites, Tut Taylor, Shot Jackson, Buddy Emmons and other Nashville artists. Not long after meeting these great players and producers, he got a great break, having the privilege of going on the road and recording in the studio with the mighty Vassar Clements. After a great two years with Clements, he went to work for Nashville’s own, Barefoot Jerry led by Wayne Moss. During that time he worked with many other artists between studio projects, such as Benny Martin, Jerthro Burns, The Gatlin Brothers and Charlie McCoy, who was also part of Barefoot Jerry.

In the spring of 1977 he moved on to get the bass playing job with one of the greatist country singers of all time, Johhn Paycheck. As a part of the West Texas Music Company (Paycheck’s Band) he did all of Paycheck’s road and studio work. He helped him finish his first LP of that year, Slide off of Your Satin Sheets, followed up with touring dates until they went back in the studio to record the infamous Take This Job and Shove It LP in December, 1977. From 1977-1983 they recorded 14 live and studio albums, along with constant touring.

In 1983 he moved on to play with David Frizzell and Shelly West, touring and recording. During that time he recorded a Number One single with Frizzell and another Number One with West.

At this point in his career he came off the road and has focused more on writing and recording instead of touring. McBride says, “During the 12 years of living full-time in Music City USA, the Good Lord blessed me with six Gold, six Platinum albums, and some multi-platinum, selling over 15-20 million copies.”
