On Thanksgiving 2015, as Jeff Schulte and his girlfriend made their way to dinner with family in Johnston, something could've ruined their day. Johnston Police officer Matt Chiles pulled them over.

But this wasn't the first time Chiles and Schulte met like this. In July, as Schulte drove to meet his girlfriend's parents for the first time, Chiles pulled him over for speeding (right in front of his girlfriend's parent's house!)

Months pass.

When Schulte decided recently to propose to his girlfriend, he knew exactly whom to call. Together, Schulte and the Johnston Police Department created a plan for the engagement.

On Thanksgiving, with his body and dash cameras rolling, Officer Chiles pulled the two over again.

Same location. Different MO.

The rest was caught on camera.

The Johnston Police Department was happy to be a part of such an important day (and we're glad Jeff has stopped speeding!).
