Deported fromTunisia to Algeria to Niger, a Cameroonian migrant's failed European dream

Our Observer, “Paul”, had left Cameroon for Tunisia, from where he dreamed of crossing the Mediterranean Sea to try his luck in Europe. But he fell victim to Tunisia's repressive policy towards irregular migrants: arrested on a boat while trying to reach Italy, he was deported to the desert areas of Algeria and Niger, in terrible conditions. He ended up asking to be repatriated to Cameroon.
