Newer Super Mario Bros. Wii - World 8 - Koopa Planet/Koopa Core + Credits

Whew, boy, this world... I have some mixed feelings about this world, though some of my problems with it come from the fact that most of it autoscrolling or some variation of it, both fast and slow, and I can't say I'm very good at being patient in slow moving courses nor being very precise in fast moving courses. It's like the first half of SMB3's World 8 on crack, but not quite like SMB3 Airship Marathon made by NAddict00 in Super Mario Maker.

I hear that there's no hit mode in this game. After this world, I don't see myself being able to go through that competently.

Anyway, I did a lot better here than expected. I only died in two courses and didn't have to retry 8-A as many times as I thought I was.

When I re-enter 8-A, I jumpcut to my successful attempt while the title card is up. If you're paying attention to the lighting around the course name, you'll notice a skip in the animation.

Cut out are 10 attempts and a restroom break totaling about 9 minutes. Including my first run and my successful run, that's 12 times. Ugh.

Deaths:

8-6: My first death came from temporarily forgetting how to platform. My second death was a reenactment of my performance in Metroid Zero Mission's stealth sections and two of my off screen deaths would have been encores of it if I'd kept them in. One of my off screen deaths involved me forgetting how to do basic platforming again as I ran into the lava before even reaching the raft as I tried to get the Mushroom.

8-Tower 2: A combination of mistimed jumps, annoying blue fire balls, and forgetting what's solid cause me to almost run out of time when going for the second Star Coin. If I didn't panic and jump too early, I would probably have made it.

Also, that long flame Bowser lets out before he finally goes down is a dick move. I didn't die to it the first time I did this fight, but I did get hit. It's like the desperation attack those bosses in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood/Dracula X Chronicles do when they're defeated, except it actually kills you if it hits as far as I can tell.
